Handcrafted Wool Socks – Made on a Vintage Machine
I’m so excited to offer these beautifully handmade socks, crafted with care on my vintage circular sock machine, “Bessie.” She’s an Imperia machine dating back to around 1929, made from cast iron — a true piece of history. Every pair is hand-cranked, making each one a small work of art.
These socks are made from a high-quality 75% superwash wool / 25% nylon blend, giving you the perfect balance of softness, warmth, and durability. They’re designed to be practical, hard-wearing, and long-lasting, the kind of socks you’ll reach for again and again. Once you’ve worn hand-knitted socks, it’s hard to go back!
Featuring a fully ribbed cuff with ribbing continuing across the top of the foot, they offer a secure yet comfortable fit that adapts beautifully to your foot.
Sizing Guide:
- For a snug fit and average-width feet, choose the higher size in the range that includes your shoe size (e.g., size 5 → choose 4–5).
- If you have wider feet, consider the smaller size range for extra stretch across the width (e.g., size 5 → choose 5-6).
Care & Wear:
They may soften with each wash and experience minimal initial shrinkage, but will stretch back out with wear. Machine washable at 30°C (a wool cycle is recommended).
